Joe A. Rettman, President

Joe has over 18 years of professional management experience in Commercial Sales, training and business development. He is a leader in sustainability, managing the deconstruction, recycling and proper disposal of construction debris from commercial buildings and residential properties. Joe has developed an outstanding cliental list of general and sub-contractors involved in the demolition and recycling of buildings and other commercial properties.

Joe oversees the operations functions of Deconstruction Management, Inc. and is responsible for managing the building deconstruction and recycling side of the business.

Joe Rettman and Deconstruction Management is a Regional Manager with The ReUse People of America as a TRP Certified Partner, and a member with the Cleveland Restoration Society.

Registered Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business with The United States General Services Administration. 

Joe resides in Shaker Heights, Ohio.



Paul Etzler, CPA, CGMA, GACP, Principal

Paul has been a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) for 20 years, and a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) for 2 years. He has been certified in sustainable building practices through the Green Advantage program as a Certified Practitioner (GACP).

As a CPA, Paul specializes in business advisory, compliance and economic development/tax structuring opportunities to the real estate and construction industries.

Paul’s concentrations as a CPA and consultant include due diligence related to new property acquisitions and developments, as well as divestures; extensive consultation with HUD/FHA and not-for-profit clients; and MOU, LOI and P&S agreement review, lease negotiations, and forecasting, budgeting and projections for real estate ventures.

Paul became a principal and minority owner in Deconstruction Management on January 1, 2013. His concentrations with the Company include financial forecasting of deconstruction opportunities, educating contractors, architects and community officials on deconstruction, and keeping Joe in line.

Paul is a regular blog contributor to Properties Magazine and Crain’s Cleveland Business, and often presents on economic development opportunities in tax, grant and loan arenas.

Paul currently serves as Treasurer/Secretary to the Building Owners’ and Managers’ Association (BOMA) Akron chapter; on the Associates Council of BOMA Greater Cleveland; on the Board and Membership Committee of the Northeast Ohio United States Green Building Council (NEO USGBC); and on the Board of The ReUse People of America – Ohio (TRP). He is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Paul earned his Bachelors of Science in Business Administration in Accounting from John Carroll University (Cleveland, Ohio).


Mark Rabkin, co-founder of Deconstruction Mgt. Inc., a leader in the advocacy of sustainable building strategies. He has served as the Director of Advocacy for the NEO Chapter of the USGBC and he is a participant in the Sustainable Cleveland 2019 Initiative.
